Philosofia Mantegna

Teaching is a privilege and I consider myself fortunate to have the opportunity to teach.

The most important message which I desire to communicate to my students is that I am available to meet their needs.  I like to build a relationship where mutual respect is one of the strongest tenets.

It is very important to know the names of the students and to treat each one as an individual.  It is also important to accommodate to their different personalities and learning styles.  Commitment is an essential key in such relationship.  My commitment to students is to do my best to teach them the tools through which they can expand their knowledge.

Teaching a foreign language involves different approaches.  Although it is important to have strong grammar skills because they form the foundation on which the language is based, I also encourage students to speak comfortably in the class.  I think this is an effective method to build self-confidence.  I try to promote a serene, joyful and respectful environment where the students can learn not only from me and from what is written on the blackboard and in the text, but also from each other.

Honesty, enthusiasm and respect, are the right ingredients to create an environment in which teaching and learning can be the very best.
